Another Kick in the Teeth

A couple of months ago, I crowbarred some spare time out of doing my own job and that of other people to apply for study leave. A term away from teaching, to get on with, well, editing two books and writing two chapters, and, you know, stuff. Have a break from teaching to recharge the batteries.

I got the letter today telling whether I'd been successful, dated 14 May. My that internal mail's fast.







Never mind. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.

Thanks. Many colleagues had said it was a foregone conclusion, a done deal, but I'd never been convinced. I'll just have to find a way to fit everything in, and simply repeat last year's lecture rather than give them the rewrite they need to fit in new modules.

There's another iron in the fire - and hope I'm not going for the hat trick here after RAE and this.
