I can't access this on my computer, bloody modem, but can on my phone and 49th on the list is Zoo City - but can you guess what the other three books by women are? Given the inability to spell confrontational, can they spell each of these three titles correctly?

They can't spell Dispossessed, that's for sure.

I wouldn't call that list 'Challenging? Confusing? Contentious? Conforntational?' (unless Conforntational means something I wot not of). I would call it Overwhelmingly Stuff By White People with Penises and Pretty Much The Usual Suspects. (Which is probably only contentious for stroppy feminist sf readers like moi.)

It's not even as if they are claiming these are the best - these are books we are being told to read. You must go out and read x-; it's important.

(Although naturally it would be easy to think of twenty one sf books by women that are important and are among the best - Kindred, Frankenstein, Kairos, The Handmaid's Tale, Clones, Brown Girl in the Ring, Fools, The Passion of New Eve, Swastika Night, Where Late the Sweet Birds Sang, Dreamsnake, Downbelow Station, The Snow Queen, We Who Are About To..., The Heritage of Hastur, Motherlines, Native Tongue, The White Dragon, Maul, Natural History, Slow River off the top of my head and chronological skewed by short term memory..)
