I'm having a mind-goes-blank moment.
Are there any sfnal references in black/African American music prior to 1970s? Anything in rock and roll? I know about Sun Ra and his space music, "Terraplane Blues" as early cyborg, and Sam Cooke's "A Change is Gonna Come" clearly looks forward, but what am I blanking on?
