CXIX: Katherine MacLean, The Missing Man (1975)
I suspect a fix-up - George Sanford is a bit of a savant with telepathic abilities which help him find missing people in a Balkanised US. Run of the mill until a final chapter refocusing on why people are doing what they are doing. Some of her fifties stories sound a little Tiptree.

CXX: Marta Randall, A City in the North (1976)
Toyon and Alin visit an alien planet, and become caught up in local politics. I preferred Islands.

CXXI: James Tiptree, Starsongs from an Old Primate (1978)
I've been reading this for ages, and I think, I fear, that for me Tiptree is someone easier to admire than like - I dn't think I'm a subtle enough reader at the moment. Her aliens are incredibly alien, and I haven't cracked the code. I really like "Houston, Houston, Do You Read?".
