So I went to a meeting about timetabling today where they said all the software about resources, timetabling, teaching contracts and student records would be able to talk to each other, and by entering a few pieces of data we would get not only a time table that worked, but a timetable tailored to each student and each member of staff.
It all depends on the accuracy of the data in the student records database.
Ha ha ha. Ha. Ha.
Ha.
Maybe I'll get to use the word "deduplicate" in its correct context.
You know, the accuracy of the database that still contains people who never registered for the degree. Or people who dropped out ages ago. Or exchange students we know nothing about. Or students who have changed programmes.
Naturally we've told the database operators about these, but they haven't necessarily changed the data, and in some cases they told us it wasn't possible to change the data.
One day we'll look back and laugh. In a rubber room.
