Weirding

I clearly blew the mind of the woman at Oxfam books:

  • Alison Assiter, Pornography, Feminism and the Individual
  • Susan Cooper, The Dark is Rising
  • Sally Ledger and Roger Luckhurst (eds), The Fin de Siècle: A Reader in Cultural History c.1880-1900

It's not that odd a mix is it?

Is it?

Meanwhile drunk enough coffee at Cafe Nerd to get a free one next time, managed to get a ticket for Paul Merton for tomorrow despite clearly trying to avoid doing so, and even remembered (at the last moment) to go into Curry's to look at DVD recorders. Then bought onion seeds, fuses and tea strainer in Wilkos (but not precision screwdrivers for now).

Finally, I am sorely tempted by these:

Bowls

But £35 tempted?

Seems a reasonable selection to me! (I've had dinner with two of your authors - but can you guess which? (Probably yes.))

I'd thought Susan Cooper as fellow writer, but I'm guessing Professors Assiter and Luckhurst?

Half right: Sally Ledger (who just died, I'm sorry to hear) used to work at UWE before she went to Birkbeck. She lived about 30 seconds' walk from where I'm sitting now.

She did - far too young, in January this year.

I guess I assumed you and Roger must have been at the same ICFA or other literary conference at some point.

Those measuring cups! I admired them just last weekend in the covered market in Oxford!

Measuring cups, sieve and bowls. Although it works out about a fiver each.

And I fear in other senses they may be Too Much.

If only I wasn't spending money like water right now.

I've been tempted by the washing up bowl (on the shelf under the measuring cups); but it cost far too much for anything let alone a washing up bowl.

I'd not even noticed the washing up bowl, and I do need a new one.

But not pink.
