Anyone who is counting may wish to note that [livejournal.com profile] brisingamen transformed from graduand to graduate today in the cathedral. [livejournal.com profile] peake and myself escorted her from Caffe Nerd to the chapter house to make sure there was no heading for the hills, as the threatened rain finally started (although it only seemed to be raining in the lights). We were at the start of a long and ill-tempered queue as the winds started whipping and the rain grew heavier (but not, thankfully, Edinburgh heavy). Evensong had over run so we weren't allowed in on time. We got seats on the side in the second row; pretty well as good as they get short of a VIP. We got to watch academic faces as the Chancellor opined.

Afterwards seat of the pants navigation got us in record time to the alway hard to find Westgate Hall to return gowns and thence to the Goodsshed for a splendid meal. Photos of Brisingamen are embargoed for now - but in the meantime the cheese board, courtesy of Tom the Cheese - in the foreground Flower Marie and (on plate) Stinking Bishop, also featured are a Yarg and the splendid Lord of the Hundreds. Yum.
