Dealing with doctors and Boots.

Last time I had a prescription to renew, I'd checked whether there was a batch prescription still lodged with Boots, then made an appointment with my doctor. I was very keen to come off the batch scheme, in which you are given six monthly prescriptions, Boots look after them, and then they can't find them the next time because they're not looking in the place I've told them to look. It's generally more stressful than dropping a prescription off at the surgery once a month to be renewed and picking it up two days later.

The doctor was then confused, because apparently I'd been prescribed the medication two days' earlier. I never did get a satisfactory explanation, and I was off abroad a couple of days' later so didn't chase.

I dropped off a prescription for renewing on Monday.

I went back today, and they couldn't find it. It turns out they've done a batch prescription of six, and sent them direct to Boots. I hadn't agreed for this to happen, indeed was considering going to a non-Boots pharmacy (although the only other convenient one, unless I walk down to Morrisons, is now run by Boots as well) because I'm fed up with the service. I now have to go to Boots and try and get them to admit to having my prescriptions. I'm tempted to demand five of them back.

comments

A month or more back a representative from Safestyle, Sussex House, Lower Stone Street, Maidstone, ME15 6YT called at my door, reassuring me that he was not selling me anything and offered me a free quote on double glazing with a special offer. Against my better judgement - I would not be able to afford this - I said yes to the quote.

I pondered what kind of quote could be given without measuring up. But, still, he said he'd post the quote later.

Later I get a phone call, seeing if they could come round to measure up. That touched the buttons, and I said I thought they'd be wasting their time.

Flashforward to this afternoon, and the phone is ringing just after I arrive home - Safestyle, Sussex House, Lower Stone Street, Maidstone, ME15 6YT are ringing to see if I got my quote. I ask if they are selling anything and they assure me they are not. But if they give me a quote, sure they want me to buy something? I point out I cancelled it, and rather pompously point out that I am registered with the Telephone Preference Service and they should remove me from their database.

Seven minutes later, the phone rings again and it is Safestyle, Sussex House, Lower Stone Street, Maidstone, ME15 6YT. I ask him if he is mad. Apparently not. I point out that this is the second call in seven minutes, and I want to speak to his supervisor. Sadly he is not available. In retrospect, I should have said I was prepared to wait.

I hung up.

But I suspect I may well fill in a few junk mail forms with their address. And maybe mail some cat litter their way.

comments

This wasn't where I'd thought I'd be, but even in the run up we'd got to plan d or e, so spending a lump of money to avoid wasting a small about of money made sense, and it ticked something off the list.

( Euston, We Have a Problem )

( The Land of the Concrete Cow )

( Rainy City Blues )

( Angels of Anarchy )

( Porn )

( Tourette's )

( Sunday )

Soon I’d better go forth and investigate Sunday shopping, maybe even buy some lunch.
