Or, that's what I call remote.
Monday I was trying to show a video, and I was initially defeated by having brought the wrong one across to the classroom. I ran back and got it, then did the spiel, but it wouldn't play clearly. Fortunately I had a DVD as an alternate, but this is the point that I noted the classroom lacked a remote. I tried nearby classrooms, to find the same lack there too.
How precisely can I play a DVD without a remote? How can I fast forward a tape? Or replay a clip?
One of the other teachers pointed out the controls on the wall. On. Off. Video. PC. Yeah, that'll do it.
I use the computer but the volume is lousy, and I use up the final life of changing region codes on it, so no region 1 DVDs in that room.
Apparently AV have removed the remote because they keep getting nicked.
Chiz.
Apparently there have been other complaints.
No shit.
Maybe I need to invest in a universal remote.
Still, some insitution I heard of got round the problem of video machines being nicked by putting them all at a central point and you'd have to phone up for them to play something. "Fast forward a bit, mate. No, a little further. Hold it, back!"
