When the fantasy theory roundtable at ICFA was on Mark Bould's intro to the HM marxism and fantasy special issue, there was a distinct sense that he wasn't talking to the people in the room. Just as if he were to be writing on Marxism in Vector or Foundation he would not be talking to members of Respect. It felt like a moment for which the word Differend was coined - the two parties don't necessarily share the same language to argue in, let alone agree in.
I think it's worth trying to have the conversation though.
Still, I'll put an abstract together and see what comes of it - although if I go to ICFA funds will be low.
