Tristram Bloody Hunt writes "History used to be the study of great men. Now it's of Everyman" - and one can't help but notice that, aside from Victoria Glendinning, it is men discussed. Even Everyman doesn't get to be a woman (what was Woolf's line about suspecting Anon was likely a woman?)
