I want to get to Egham, ideally from Waterloo, although a number of options I'm offered include Heathrow or three changes - too many changes.
The question is whether I add a walk at the start or middle of the journey. Allowing time to purchase a ticket, the journey to west station pretty much wipes out any gain on HS1 compared to conventional routes. And since I'll walk past East it seems particularly daft - especially as I then need to travel south (with a change) to Waterloo.
Walking to west gets me trains to Charing Cross, via Waterloo East, which is more convenient for Waterloo, but it's up to a two hour journey.
So east to Victoria... and underground works, and a change for Waterloo. This seems best but... Cost for once isn't an issue, but I'd prefer through trains rather than changing at Feltham.
