Hard to believe of him as being in his 90s. I haven't read a huge amount of him - the world of tiers stuff, the odd Riverworld novel, a volume or two of short stories. But he pushed back some interesting boundaries.

Today I had to a) finish the 6000 word chapter I've been blocked on for ages and which is frankly six months late and b) write a powerpoint for Friday's conference paper.

Having sat at a computer for several days I was stuck at about 2000 words, and had limped to 2500 by this morning. So 3500 words to write today.

No pressure then.

Current total when pub calls - 7600 before bibliography.

Tomorrow I shall have to cut 1500 words: I suspect the very section I was stuck on for so long.

Oh, and there's that paper to write. I think I've got to rip off Solar Flares more closely than I'd hoped.

I know what I'm doing between getting back from the pub and going to work tomorrow.

Meanwhile, I suspect I can only afford to do about a third of the three day conference at work this weekend.
