A book company is facing a lawsuit over cigarette packet-sized books with designs that are sorta like brands. You can see how that could confuse people. And why you would think a tobacco company evil because you bought Hemmingway by mistake, thinking it was Lucky Strike. Or be pissed that a cigarette firm were endorsing Hemmingway. You Evil Tobacco Giant. http://books.guardian.co.uk/news/articles/0,,2241443,00.html for the story. Sadly Still Life with Woodpecker would have to be in incredibly teeny print to fit.

For film, only.

See here for listing )

A load of these don’t seem to have opened yet so my wishes are hopes not predictions. Although This is England is Best British Film. Obviously. Be nice to see Cronenberg win it though. Best Film, Cinematography and Editing overlap somewhat – and Didley Ridley snubbed for Best Director. Is Labeouf still rising? Or Miller?

So six months after I ordered it and three weeks after dispatch, I have the Oltimate Collector's Edition of Blade Runner. I have five versions of the film - alleged Final Cut, dubious Director's Cut, US theatrical, International theatrical and a Workprint. Do I want to watch it five times? Not really, but maybe twice. There are also documentaries, outtakes, and a couple of commentaries.

It worked out a tenner more than the tin I saw in Fopp before Xmas, but I have cards of design stuff by Syd Mead, one of those three-d photos, a toy car and a metal origami unicorn. And it comes in a plastic briefcase.

Woo.

Enough Blade Runner now.
