Tomorrow I have to go to a two-hour course to teach me how to use email. Now why I have to do this course now, when I've never been taught to use any package aside from the person at the next desk saying "Click there" I don't know. They've said if I don't migrate to the new system I won't get anymore work emails.

There may be a down side to that rather than a salespitch.

I've been told I have to ask my HoD for permission to go, despite the fact that I have to do the training, and he has graciously given me permission. I decided to log on just now to send him an email to tell him he is the bestest HoD evah, only it won't let me log on.

Ah, they've clearly turned off access to my account.

Chiz.

Of course I printed off the email that tells me the room number of the training course, which is in a building I've never used before.

Oh.

And Google Desktop will be able to retrieve the email from the cache.

Oh.

But I'm not the only person who hasn't thought this through.

Edit: Given the error messages I get when clicking through the new software, it will clearly want the password I use to log on to the work computer. So with one username, from my computer, I can access all my files, all my emails, the virtual learning environment complete with access to the innards, the timetabling software once it actually works and presumably the student database of marks.

Sweet.

I am so going to have to password protect the screensaver.

Edit: Yes, single password for everything because people are more likely to write down two passwords than one. We are thus advised to lock the machines down when leaving our desks. I presume with a second password otherwise there'd be no point.

Anyone spot the logical flaw?
