So, short stories and novellas then. Novels seem easier to write about, and there's more criticism to draw upon, but given that so much sf is assembled from stories, I need to look at those too. I have a listing of award winners and nominees

Then there's the Norton Book of Science Fiction. Of course this was controversial on first release - what was it, the Politically Correct Book of SF? Anyway:
